Are you ready to get your hands on the slick new ride, mate? Let's talk about the upcoming Polestar 4 electric SUV coupe! This bad boy is set to hit Aussie highways starting from August 2024, and it's already available for pre-order.

Joining the existing Polestar 2 sedan and the Polestar 3 SUV, which will be released mid-year, the Polestar 4 is destined to turn heads with its unique exterior design. This baby ditches the conventional rear window and instead sports a full-length glass roof – who said SUVs couldn’t be stylish?

So, what’s the cost for this ride, you ask? The Polestar 4 is priced to comfortably fit between the Polestar 2 sedan and Polestar 3 SUV, starting at $78,500 plus on-road costs for the Long-range Single motor, and $88,350 plus on-road costs for the Long-range Dual motor. Both models ship with the Pilot Pack as standard, including Pilot Assist, Polestar's cutting-edge driver assistance system.

If you want to customize your ride, you can pick from additional packs during the online purchasing process. There's the Plus Pack ($8,000), Pro Pack ($2,500), Nappa upgrade ($8,000), and dual-motor exclusive Performance Pack ($7,200). The Plus Pack offers luxurious upgrades like a Harman Kardon premium audio system, a 14.7-inch head-up display, and mist-tone tailored knit upholstery. The Pro Pack includes 21-inch wheels, Swedish gold striped seatbelts, while the Nappa upgrade adds animal-friendly Nappa leather upholstery, among other perks. The Performance Pack amps up the appearance and driving experience for the Long-range Dual motor version, featuring 22-inch wheels, 4-piston Brembo brakes, and Swedish gold details.

Now, you might be wondering, where can you get your hands on this electric marvel? Head over to the Polestar website to place your order – first deliveries to customers are slated for August-September 2024.

The long-range Dual motor churns out 400kW and 686Nm and is expected to travel up to 580km (WLTP). The Long-range Single motor, on the other hand, is estimated to achieve a range of 610km (WLTP) thanks to its 200kW / 343Nm motor at the rear. You'll be able to juice up your Polestar 4 with up to 200kW DC and 22kW AC charging via a motorized charge door. Sadly, vehicle to load (V2L) capability won’t be coming to Australian models.

Are you after a performance car? Well, the Polestar 4 is the quickest car Polestar has ever made, hitting 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The vehicle boasts solid driving dynamics, with sharp steering and handling, and semi-active suspension in the dual-motor version for an extra layer of comfort and performance tuning. Tire size varies from 20 to 22-inches, depending on the configuration.

Nervous about towing with an electric vehicle? Don’t be! The long-range Single motor model can tow up to 1,500kg (braked), and the dual-motor is capable of towing 2,000kg (braked), with a max unbraked capacity of 750kg. Head over to the Polestar configurator to equip your 4 with an optional electrically retractable towkit with FIX4BIKE compatibility for $2,900.

When it comes to the exterior design of the Polestar 4, the car takes inspiration from the Polestar Precept concept car, prioritizing aerodynamics. It features a low nose, retractable door handle, frameless windows, rear aero blades, and a rear light bar. The interior design is inspired by fashion and sportswear industries, offering an environmentally-friendly cabin and several new color options: Storm, Electron, and Mist.

In terms of safety, the Polestar 4 will come equipped with on-par technologies to the 2024 Polestar 3, including Pilot Assist, seven airbags, 12 cameras, one radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. A driver monitoring camera system keeps an eye on driver fatigue or distraction, while a steering wheel sensor determines if the driver is still gripping the wheel. Please note, an ANCAP rating has yet to be released for the Polestar 4.
