4iG SDT Chosen as First European Partner for Axiom Space's Orbital Data Center Program
4iG Space and Defence (4iG SDT) has been chosen as the first European partner by Axiom Space for its groundbreaking Orbital Data Center program. The Hungarian company has signed a non-binding commitment letter to become a strategic investor in Axiom Space's capital increase, marking a significant step in US-Hungarian technological collaboration.
The capital increase, valued at $100 million, could secure 4iG SDT an equity stake in Axiom Space. Furthermore, a $100 million framework has been established for the next five years to foster long-term cooperation between the two companies. This partnership opens doors for 4iG SDT to participate in Axiom Space's first European Orbital Data Center (ODC) programme and access its global space marketplace.
The Orbital Data Center program aims to create a next-generation data center in space, enabling real-time data processing and storage. Axiom Space, a US-based company renowned for its work on the International Space Station and the Axiom Station, is leading this innovative project.
The agreement between 4iG SDT and Axiom Space not only strengthens US-Hungarian technological ties but also positions Hungary as an active participant in the global space economy. István Sárczegi, CEO of 4iG SDT, views this partnership as a milestone in US-Hungarian relations and an opportunity to bolster Hungary's space capabilities and international standing.
