Let's Crank Up the Pace on Thuringia's Digital Transformation!

Drive to boost digitalization in Thuringia spearheaded by Schuetz - Acceleration desired for digital transformation in Thuringia, as per Schütz's intentions

Yo, Steffen Schutz, Thuringia's Minister of Infrastructure (BSW), is pumped up about progressing the digital transformation of the administration and other public facilities in our beautiful Free State. He's talkin' 'bout a GovTech Campus in Erfurt, the first of its kind in Central Germany, to help us get a move on.

This bad boy's gonna be a hotspot for tech innovation, digital education, and chit-chat with bigwigs in digitalization. The main goal? Crank out easy-to-use digital services for Thuringia citizens and biz owners like you and me, faster and with pinpoint accuracy.

According to Schutz, Thuringia's gonna buddy up on digital stuff with neighboring federal states. For example, Bavaria's been a member of the GovTech Campus Germany e.V. since August 2024. This association offers #techheads infrastructure for their innovation projects, helping them hook up with awesome tech partners, from IT service providers to research institutions like Fraunhofer Institute. It's all about pooling digital expertise, say Schutz!

The Erfurt campus will focus on creating methods and tools to make laws and admin services more digitally compatible (read: less bureaucratic). They'll base their work on three research projects from the University of Jena in the E-Government field. The secure use of artificial intelligence (AI) in authorities is another big topic. "Digital legislation will significantly boost the state's and admin's ability to act," claims Schutz.

The GovTech Campus Germany e.V. provides a platform for the feds, states, and municipalities to connect with Germany's and Europe's tech scene. Oh, and the Thuringian Digital Advisory Board had its first meeting this week. This independent expert committee offers advice to the state government, with 19 members appointed for two years.
