Aerospace company Collins secures fresh agreements with China Airlines and Japan Airlines (JAL)
Collins Aerospace, a leading provider of aviation solutions, has renewed its FlightSense agreement with Japan Airlines (JAL) for another ten years. The renewed agreement aims to provide JAL with a connected aircraft ecosystem, as stated by Brian Barta, vice president and general manager of aftermarket services and support at Collins Aerospace.
The services offered under the renewed agreement are designed to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and maintenance scheduling for avionics, cargo, electrical power, environmental control, and lighting systems. Ascentia analytics services will continue to provide data-driven insights to improve JAL's fleet performance and cut life-cycle costs. Predictive, reliability-based maintenance support will be delivered to keep avionics performing at peak levels.
Moreover, the renewed agreement covers maintenance, repair, overhaul, and asset management for JAL's fleet of more than 50 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. It also includes support for air management systems and electric power components. The renewal also extends JAL's use of Ascentia analytics services for five more years.
Unlike the agreement with China Airlines, the renewed agreement with JAL does not specify any guarantees of component availability, lower downtime, or cost predictability through a fixed-rate model. However, the FlightSense solution promises these benefits, turning raw data into actionable insights and smarter decisions for fleets, according to Brian Barta.
In a separate development, Collins Aerospace has secured a 20-year contract with China Airlines. The contract includes the provision of FlightSense and Dispatch solutions. The Dispatch programme will help China Airlines stay ahead of potential avionics issues through proactive support and global service centre access, as per Brian Barta. These solutions will be applied to China Airlines' Boeing 787 and other wide-body fleets.
Chris Calio, the chairman of Collins Aerospace, which expanded services to Asian airlines including China Airlines and Japan Airlines, expressed his delight at the long-term partnerships. These contracts underscore Collins Aerospace's commitment to delivering innovative solutions that help airlines operate more efficiently and cost-effectively.
