The Jaecoo E5, a new electric SUV from Chinese brand Jaecoo, is set to make its debut in the UK market in October 2025. Priced from around £27,505, the E5 is positioned as a compact, rugged, and city-friendly electric vehicle (EV) with styling reminiscent of a Range Rover.

The E5 is equipped with a 207 PS (or 211 PS in some reports) front-mounted electric motor, paired with a 61.1 kWh Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery. This powertrain delivers an impressive WLTP range of up to 248 miles (400 km) on a single charge, and accelerates from 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in approximately 7.7 seconds, producing 288 Nm of torque.

Charging the E5 is a breeze, with DC fast charging supporting up to 80 kW. This enables a charge from 30% to 80% in approximately 27 minutes. AC charging at 11 kW is available for overnight home charging. The E5 also boasts a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing it to power external devices such as laptops and camping gear.

Inside, the E5's digital-first cabin is anchored by a large 13.2-inch (or 12.3-inch in Pure trim) portrait touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are standard, along with voice assistant integration. The E5 offers practical storage solutions with over 35 storage compartments and a boot capacity of 480 litres, expandable to 1,180 litres by folding seats.

The E5 will be available in two trim levels: Pure and Luxury. The Pure trim includes six Sony speakers, six-way manual front seats, and 19 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control. The Luxury trim adds heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging pad, and eight Sony speakers overall.

The E5 is designed with practicality in mind, featuring a 'Pet Mode' to keep animals safe and comfortable when parked. It also boasts a UK-specific chassis tuning for a balance of urban use and outdoor capabilities, with approach and departure angles of 20 and 30 degrees, respectively, supporting light off-road use.

The E5's battery is backed by a warranty of up to 8 years or 100,000 miles. It rivals models such as the Peugeot e-2008, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Kia EV3, offering a competitive package in terms of range, charging speed, and performance for its price, alongside a well-equipped interior with modern connectivity and practical features tailored for urban and adventurous lifestyles.

  1. The E5's spacious interior, equipped with modern technology such as a large touchscreen and voice assistant integration, caters to an urban and adventurous lifestyle.
  2. The Jaecoo E5, with its gadgets like fast charging capabilities, V2L function, and advanced driver-assistance systems, integrates technology seamlessly into its lifestyle-focused design.
