Affordable New e-C3 Van Offered by Citroen for Under £20,000
Citroën has entered the electric van market with the launch of its new e-C3 van, boasting a range of impressive features and a competitive price point.
The e-C3 van boasts a payload capacity of 300kg and a load volume of 730 litres under the load cover, expanding to 1,220 litres without it. The van shares several features with the PLUS version of the e-C3 passenger car, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen, LED headlights, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and 17-inch steel wheels with wheel trims.
One notable feature of the e-C3 van is the full-height mesh and solid bulkhead, a mid-height load cover, and blacked-out rear side windows (in UK versions), ensuring a secure and well-organised load area.
The van is eligible for the government's £2,500 Plug-in Van Grant, reducing the cost to £19,937 after VAT or £17,535 without the tax. This places the e-C3 van under £20,000, making it a competitive option in the electric van market.
However, Citroën has announced plans for an even cheaper version with a smaller battery, expected to be introduced later this year. This version is intended to be more competitively priced, potentially making it closer in price to the Dacia Spring Cargo, which has a list price of £14,995 plus VAT, or £12,495 after the grant. The Dacia Spring Cargo has a larger payload of 370kg compared to the e-C3 van and a range of 140 miles.
The e-C3 van is equipped with a 44kWh battery, the same as the PLUS version of the e-C3 passenger car, offering a WLTP Combined range of 200 miles.
The load area of the New e-C3 Van is 1.2 meters long and 1 meter wide at floor level. The van version of the e-C3 is available now, with the cheaper, smaller battery version expected later this year.
