In response to recent emergencies, the Technical Relief Agency of Bavaria (THW) has been providing vital support to firefighters in Thuringia and Saxony. The THW, a federal operational organization carried by volunteers with around 88,000 volunteers nationwide, has been deployed in various local associations across Bavaria, including Selb, Mellrichstadt, Marktredwitz, Bayreuth, Kirchehrenbach, Forchheim, and Aschaffenburg.

Last week, a team from THW Kronach travelled to Thuringia with two water transport containers, each holding approximately 10,000 liters. The mission in Thuringia on the Saalfelder Height has been successfully completed.

In Gohrischheide, a deployment area has been set up that can supply thousands of deployment forces from the fire service and other aid organizations. The Bavarian THW personnel are not only providing technical support but are also taking on leadership and coordination tasks at the deployment sites. They have loaded high-performance pumps onto the truck and are on standby to be able to deploy to Saxony at short notice if needed.

The currently deployed THW units in Saxony include specialized teams such as bridge-building groups, clearing teams, and heavy rescue units. These units provide technical support in disaster relief and civil protection efforts within Saxony, undertaking tasks like constructing provisional bridges, debris removal, and conducting complex recovery operations.

A special unit 'Water Damage/Pumps' of the THW is on standby, ready to respond when needed. The Bavarian THW personnel are also providing catering for approximately 600 deployment forces in Gohrischheide.

For more information on the THW's commitment at home and abroad, visit www.thw.de. Inquiries can be directed to THW Regional Association Bavaria at (089) 15 91 51 - 655 or [email protected].

It's worth noting that the THW is in demand worldwide in the event of emergencies on behalf of the federal government. They provide technical and logistical tasks within the framework of the European Union's civil protection mechanism and on behalf of UN organizations.
