Apple Expands Streaming Services: New Sharing Options, Wider Device Compatibility
Apple has expanded its streaming services with new sharing options and wider device compatibility. Users can now share Apple TV+ and channel subscriptions with family members via Family Sharing. Additionally, the Apple TV app is set to arrive on a range of smart TV platforms this spring and beyond.
Starting this spring, users can enjoy Apple TV+ content on Samsung smart TVs, with the Apple TV app set to launch. Later this year, the app will also become available on Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku, Sony, and VIZIO platforms, bringing Apple's original shows, movies, and documentaries to a broader audience.
Behind the scenes, Apple's team managing Apple Originals content, led by the Editorial Directory Manager – Apple Originals, is responsible for releasing exclusive content on the Apple TV Original Video Subscription Service. This team oversees production, licensing, and distribution of Apple TV+ original content.
The Apple TV app is set to launch on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV in over 100 countries this May, and will arrive on Mac this fall. Additionally, AirPlay 2 support will allow customers to play content directly from their iPhone or iPad to their smart TVs on eligible VIZIO, Samsung, LG, and Sony smart TVs later this year.
With these updates, Apple is making its streaming services more accessible and user-friendly. The expansion of Family Sharing and device compatibility ensures that users can enjoy Apple TV+ and channel subscriptions across a wide range of devices.
