Apple reportedly set to unveil the latest iteration of FineWoven fabric in conjunction with the iPhone 17 release
In an exciting turn of events, details about Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 lineup are starting to emerge, thanks to leaks from the trusted source, Majin Bu. The iPhone 17 event, expected to launch new products, is shaping up to be a significant moment in Apple's history.
Among the rumoured additions to the iPhone 17 lineup are the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro. These new devices are expected to launch in September, although nothing is official at this point.
Apple is reportedly making a shift from its current FineWoven material to a new textile called "TechWoven" for the cases of the iPhone 17 series. This material is derived from recycled plastic (rPET) and is designed to be more durable, longer-lasting, and eco-conscious. The new material will come in various colours, including black, blue, green, purple, and orange, and will offer functional improvements such as metal buttons and MagSafe compatibility.
The TechWoven material will feel more rubbery and grippy than FineWoven, making it harder to drop. It will also have enhanced resistance to scratches and wear and tear compared to FineWoven. In addition, Apple is planning to replace its FineWoven material with FineWoven 2.0 for cases in the iPhone 17 lineup for one more year.
Apart from the TechWoven cases, there are rumours of Liquid Glass cases for the iPhone 17 lineup. These cases are said to offer a more striking aesthetic. However, details about Liquid Glass cases are currently slim.
One notable feature of the silicone cases for the iPhone 17 lineup is the inclusion of a lanyard loop, similar to the one on the AirPods Pro 2 case. This addition could provide users with an extra layer of security and convenience.
Despite the leaks, no official information has been released about the features of the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro. The new material will come in four matte colours: green, orange, blue, and purple. The iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will be accompanied by other new products at Apple's upcoming event.
