Tech giants have been busy unveiling new products. Meta Platforms has launched smart glasses with a built-in display, while Apple has introduced an upgraded iPhone line. Meanwhile, Apple's plans for smart glasses have seen some shifts in development timelines.

Meta Platforms has introduced two models of smart glasses: the Meta Ray-Ban Display and Oakley Vanguard. Both feature a built-in display, allowing users to make calls, listen to music, and receive notifications.

At its annual event, Apple showcased an upgraded line of iPhones and iPhone Air. However, the tech giant also shared updates on its smart glasses development. Initially planned for 2028, the second version of Apple's smart glasses, featuring a display, is now being accelerated. The first model, N50, expected in 2027, will not have a display and will rely heavily on voice interaction and AI. Apple is also developing another model with a display, tentatively named 'Apple Glass' or 'Apple Smart Glasses', scheduled for around 2027.

In a surprising move, Apple has halted development of the N100, a cheaper, lighter mixed-reality headset planned for 2027. Resources are being reallocated to speed up work on the smart glasses projects.

Apple's smart glasses development timeline has seen some changes, with the display-equipped model now expected sooner than initially thought. The tech giant is also focusing on voice interaction and AI for these devices. Despite the progress, Apple still has some catching up to do in AI technology compared to competitors like Google.
