Apple's iPhone 17 Pro: New Display Tech, More RAM, 48MP Cameras
Apple is set to unveil its new iPhone range in early September, with the iPhone 16 Pro models boasting significant upgrades. Rumours suggest a new, more durable display technology, though details remain scarce. Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra hints at potential advancements in display reflection reduction.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to debut a new display technology, currently unconfirmed by MacRumors. This tech, reportedly resolved after May production issues, promises enhanced durability over the Ceramic Shield used in the iPhone 12 range. Notably, it will only be available in the iPhone 16 Pro models, unlike the Ceramic Shield which was across all iPhone 12 models.
The new display is also expected to be less reflective and more scratch-resistant. Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra, using Corning Gorilla Glass Armor 2, offers a 75% reduction in reflectivity in bright sunlight, suggesting a possible direction for Apple's new tech.
Under the hood, the iPhone 17 Pro models are rumoured to feature improved 12GB of RAM and a high-end 48MP telephoto lens. All three rear cameras will pack this resolution, marking a significant upgrade. The iPhone 16 Pro models will also sport a rectangular camera bump to accommodate the lenses.
The iPhone 17 range promises substantial improvements, with the iPhone 16 Pro models leading the way. The new display technology, while specifics remain unclear, is expected to enhance durability and reduce reflectivity. The debut is scheduled for early September, with the iPhone 16 Pro models set to boast enhanced RAM and camera systems.
