Tiny Titans Take Over Again: Grounded 2 Announced

Hear ye, hear ye! Get ready to don your bugali armor once more, because Obsidian Entertainment is charging back onto the scene with the much-anticipated sequel to their underrated survival game, Grounded 2. Get ready to step into a bigger, dangerous, and even more irresistible backyard!
Obsidian already left us gasping with Avowed this year, and with The Outer Worlds 2 charging towards us in the second half of 2025[1], it's a no-brainer that the developer was going to steal the show at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. But, what I didn't see coming was the continuation of one of the most undervalued first-party Xbox games and one of my all-time favorite survival games[2]. That's right, Grounded 2 is officially in the works, and I can hardly believe it!
So, for those who have missed out on the adventures of being shrunk down to insect size[4] or for anyone who needs a refresher, Grounded is a community-driven project by Obsidian with an intriguing premise: you and your friends are insects trying to survive the perilous backyard that's been twisted by strange science[4]. After reviewing the full release at the end of 2022, it's not like enough time hasn't passed for Obsidian to start planning a sequel. In fact, Grounded spent nearly two years receiving regular post-launch updates before finally making its multi-platform debut[4]. It's been just over a year since then, and everything points to Grounded 2 not being too far off.
Grounded 2 is heading to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Steam, and Xbox Game Pass on Jul. 29, 2025[1] [2] (in Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access). With everything Obsidian learned from the first game in tow, Grounded 2 promises to be bigger and better in every aspect. The map is larger, the biomes more diverse, the combat far more dynamic, and the ecosystem even more interactive[4].
Players can look forward to new adrenaline-pumping features like the addition of terrifying scorpions, the ability to tame and ride various creatures, and a whole lot more[4]. Obsidian is even committing to releasing regular, substantial content updates with a public roadmap to keep players in the loop[5].
