Attention shifts to SpaceX's Starship, yet a significant mission is scheduled for Sunday as well by the company

The space industry is gearing up for an exciting week, as SpaceX prepares for a historic double launch. On Sunday, August 24, the Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 2:45 a.m., carrying the Dragon spacecraft on its 10th commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS). Simultaneously, SpaceX is targeting Sunday for the 10th launch of its Starship rocket, scheduled to take place near Boca Chica, Texas, in the early evening.

The Dragon spacecraft will stay docked at the ISS until December, delivering over 5,000 pounds of supplies for the crew aboard the space station. These supplies include materials for 3D printing medical implants that could advance treatments for nerve damage on Earth, as well as a variety of experiments for crew members to work on, such as bone-forming stem cells for studying bone loss prevention.

Upon arrival at the ISS, the Dragon spacecraft will dock with the space station at about 7:30 a.m. (ET) on Monday, August 25, to the forward port of the Harmony module. The Dragon will also perform a reboost demonstration to help the ISS maintain its current altitude of approximately 250 miles above Earth.

Meanwhile, the Dragon's reboost demonstration will utilize an independent propellant system located in the trunk of Dragon to fuel two Draco engines. This demonstration will showcase the capability to help sustain the ISS's altitude starting in September with a series of burns planned periodically throughout the fall of 2025.

The Dragon spacecraft demonstrated its capabilities during the 31st commercial resupply mission in November last year. This mission marked a significant milestone in SpaceX's partnership with NASA, contributing to the advancement of space exploration and scientific research.

For those interested in watching the launches live, coverage will be available on NASA, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. For the Starship launch, SpaceX's official channels and popular spaceflight coverage channels like Spaceflight Now and NSF will host live broadcasts. The 10th fully integrated Starship (Ship 37) launch window was on August 26, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. CDT. Coverage typically starts two hours before launch, including countdown activities and expert analysis.

The Dragon spacecraft's arrival and docking, as well as the Starship launch, can be watched live or replayed on these channels for a comprehensive view of the events. The Starship launch will feature the Starship upper stage suborbital flight, deployment of eight Starlink simulators, and in-space Raptor engine relight tests.

As we eagerly anticipate these launches, we are reminded of the exciting advancements in space exploration and the significant role SpaceX plays in pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Stay tuned for more updates as these historic missions unfold.
