Audi Consults on Brussels Plant Future Amid Operational Challenges
Audi has initiated a consultation process with the Company Council of its Brussels plant to discuss the facility's future. The automaker has not yet made a final decision, but has hinted at potential restructuring.
The Brussels plant, which lacks a press shop and has limited local suppliers, faces complex and costly inbound logistics. Its central location makes expansion and layout changes challenging due to surrounding private property, a railway, and proximity to the city centre.
Audi has informed the Company Council of its intention to restructure the plant. The carmaker has launched an information and consultation process, engaging with Volkswagen AG and the IG Metall district management of Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, as per the future collective agreement starting January 1, 2025. Audi aims to discuss solutions for employees and the site, examining alternatives in detail with these social partners.
Audi's Brussels plant faces operational challenges due to its layout and logistics. The carmaker has begun consultations with stakeholders to explore potential solutions and alternatives for the plant's future, with no final decision made yet.
