BMW Unveils iX3: First 'New Class' EV with 800km Range

BMW is set to unveil the BMW iX3, the first production model based on the 'New Class' electric vehicle architecture, at the IAA Mobility in Munich this September. This marks a significant milestone in the company's electrification strategy, following a rich history of innovative and iconic vehicles.

The iX3 promises an impressive range of up to 800 kilometers and rapid charging speeds of up to 400 kW, setting new standards for electric news. This is a notable evolution from BMW's first electric concept vehicle, the i3, introduced at the IAA in 2011, which featured a lightweight construction using aluminum and carbon fiber.

BMW's history is marked by numerous groundbreaking models. In 1955, the BMW 507, considered one of the most beautiful cars ever made, rolled off the production line, with only 252 units produced. A decade later, the 750i limousine, BMW's first twelve-cylinder car after World War II, was introduced in 1987. The iX3's presentation at IAA Mobility continues this tradition of innovation.

The 'New Class' architecture, on which the iX3 is based, is BMW's largest single investment to date. It follows the success of the Isetta, a hit from 1955 to 1962, and the 1500 model, introduced in 1961, which paved the way for numerous vehicle series like the 5 Series.

The BMW iX3, set to be revealed at IAA Mobility in Munich, embodies BMW's commitment to electrification and innovation. With its impressive range and charging speeds, it promises to be a significant addition to the electric news market, building on the legacy of iconic BMW models like the 507 and 750i.
