Boris FX Sapphire 2023 Unveils New Visual Effects
Boris FX has announced the release of Sapphire 2023, a powerful update to its visual effects suite. The latest version introduces two new effects: S_PrismLens and S_UltraGrain, along with several other enhancements.
The S_PrismLens effect replicates shooting through a physical glass prism, creating cinematic and dreamy looks. It offers three initial styles: single, linear, and circular. Users can modify the lens shape, use built-in Mocha to track and isolate effects, and add finishing touches such as glows, lights, and chromatic aberrations.
On the other hand, the S_UltraGrain effect provides advanced film grain simulation, allowing users to add realistic grain textures to their footage. This can enhance the cinematic ambiance and give video a more organic, filmic quality.
In addition to these new effects, Sapphire 2023 features 18 new lens flares in its lighting effects category, and other new effects such as S_Dust for quickly adding cinematic dust ambiance, and S_PixelMosh, a digital glitch video effect for unique stylistic looks.
The S_UltraGrain effect is fast, flexible, and natural, allowing users to instantly apply precise film and camera grain to footage. Sapphire 2023's most widely-used transition, S_DissolveUltraGlow, gets an update with enhanced features including an optical-based glow, highlight and atmospheric noise parameters, and 14 presets.
Boris FX Sapphire 2023 is now available with host support for Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, Autodesk Flame, Blackmagic Resolve, Foundry Nuke, and VEGAS Pro.
For customers on current subscription or upgrade & support plans, Sapphire 2023 is a free update. Monthly subscription for the full Boris FX Sapphire 2023 is $112, while annual subscription is $895. For individual host options (Adobe/OFX or Avid), the monthly subscription is $62, and annual subscription is $495. Upgrades for individual host options start at $495. Permanent licenses for the full Boris FX Sapphire 2023 and individual host options are priced at $2795 and $1695 respectively.
