Car thieves outsmart automated keyless entry systems, using sophisticated methods to steal vehicles.

In the past few days, two Jeep Grand Cherokees have been stolen in West Pfalz, with the latest incident occurring on the street "In den Härtelwiesen" in Waldmohr early on Wednesday, February 5th, and the previous one on Thursday, February 6th, from a driveway in the Wagnerstraße in Bruchmühlbach-Miesau.

The police suspect that the perpetrators exploited the "Keyless Go" system of the vehicles in both cases. This system, which allows for keyless entry and start, can potentially be outsmarted by thieves who extend the range of the key's signal to the car.

The owner of the stolen car in Waldmohr noticed noises on the street and saw her car driving away. The investigations into these car thefts are ongoing, and the perpetrators have not been identified as of yet.

The police do not rule out a connection between the two incidents in Waldmohl and Bruchmühlbach-Miesau. They recommend taking precautions to prevent such thefts, such as storing the car key in a secure container. This measure can prevent unauthorized access or theft, especially when using the "Keyless Go" system.

The police also advise against keeping the car key near the front door and not using it near your parked car. These precautions can help reduce the risk of theft.

The information was transmitted via news aktuell by the West Palatinate Police Headquarters. They remind the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard their vehicles.
