Celebrating the 94th birthday of Clive Cussler, DOXA unveils the SUB 750T Revival, a slimmer version of their iconic timepiece.
In a nod to the past while embracing the future, Swiss watchmaker DOXA has released a new special-edition model, the SUB 750T Clive Cussler watch. This watch, a return of a model last in production nearly a decade ago, is a tribute to author Clive Cussler, who has a significant connection with the brand.
The SUB 750T Clive Cussler watch boasts a slimmer case, measuring 11.95mm thick, nearly 2mm thinner than the original. This reduction in thickness transforms the watch from a bulky, medieval "metal ring" to a much sleeker, more comfortable fit, akin to switching from a winter jacket to a summer jacket in terms of wearability and comfort.
Key updates include a Swiss Sellita SW300 automatic movement with a 56-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, offering improved performance over the previous SW200-1 movement used in past models. The watch retains the classic orange dial popularized by Cussler and includes special details such as commemorative dates and a compass rose emblem on the case back, honoring Cussler’s legacy and adding storytelling value.
The watch comes with a steel beads-of-rice bracelet with a dive extension, as well as an orange NATO strap, providing versatility for various occasions. The dial of the watch is classic DOXA orange with optimized handset for underwater legibility, ensuring readability even in the deepest dives.
The watch is presented in a commemorative box inspired by vintage exploration logbooks, adding to its overall appeal. The watch has a water resistance of 750m, maintaining the original's legendary capability.
The SUB 750T Clive Cussler watch is available now exclusively through DOXA's website for $2,990. It is a limited edition, with only 94 pieces available. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the watch supports NUMA's ongoing maritime preservation efforts, reflecting Cussler's commitment to preserving the oceans.
The case of the watch is made of stainless steel, with a size of 45mm, a lug-to-lug of 47mm, and a thickness of 11.95mm. The crystal of the watch is AR-coated sapphire, ensuring clarity and durability. The watch features a NUMA logo at 7:30, referencing the real-world organization that Cussler founded, and the date wheel has orange numerals marking July 15, 1931, the date of Cussler's birth.
DOXA has made a couple of special-edition watches using Cussler as a template in the past. The SUB 300T, a watch that was given to Cussler in the past, is often associated with DOXA and Cussler's relationship. The new SUB 750T Clive Cussler version delivers a modern, elegant, and slimmer profile without compromising its legendary 750-meter water resistance or robust dive watch capabilities, making it a highly welcomed update for enthusiasts who found the original model too thick.
