Connecting WhatsApp to Meta Account Centre: A Step-by-Step Guide

In an effort to create a tightly connected ecosystem, Meta is integrating its popular apps – Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads. By linking these apps together under one account, you can simplify your digital life and unlock various cross-platform features. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to link your Meta apps using the Meta Accounts Centre.

  1. Open one of your Meta apps. For example, on WhatsApp, tap the three-dot menu on the top right and go to Settings.
  2. Scroll down to find Accounts Centre and tap it.
  3. Tap Continue to proceed to linking your accounts.
  4. You will be given options to add other Meta apps/accounts, such as Facebook or Instagram. Tap on the app you want to add.
  5. Select Allow and Continue when prompted to grant the needed permissions.
  6. Your accounts will appear on the screen, including the one you started with (e.g., WhatsApp). Confirm by tapping Yes, finish adding.

With these simple steps, your linked Meta apps will now be managed under one umbrella account in the Accounts Centre, enabling cross-platform features like unified login, ads management, privacy settings, and cross-posting capabilities across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads.

Additional cross-platform integration details include:

  • Cross-posting between Facebook, Instagram, and Threads: You can easily enable sharing posts across these platforms by configuring the “Composer” settings in Facebook and Instagram apps to also share to Threads.
  • Meta Business Suite: For managing multiple Facebook Pages and related Instagram accounts together, Meta offers Business Suite, consolidating messages and scheduling posts but is currently limited to Facebook and Instagram and does not include WhatsApp or Threads.

By linking your Meta apps, you can manage settings like login, ads, and privacy from one central place, making your digital life less scattered. You can unlink any app from the Meta Account Centre at any time by heading back into Settings.

Linking your WhatsApp to the Meta Account Centre provides a unified view of your connected apps and easier control over how your accounts work together. However, linking your WhatsApp to the Meta Account Centre does not radically change your app overnight.
