The K-Bot stands at 4 feet 7 inches (approx. 1.4 meters) tall and weighs 77 lbs, with a maximum payload capacity of 22 lbs. It boasts a 3D printed frame and is equipped with 26 high-torque motors, ensuring robustness and versatility for a wide range of tasks.

Equipped with a modular sensor and compute suite, upgradable end effectors, various cameras, and audio equipment, the K-Bot is designed to disrupt the market by offering advanced capabilities at an affordable price of $8,999.

The K-Bot is not just a household novelty, but a practical tool capable of performing tasks such as toasting bread. Its initial release, scheduled for November 2025, will include basic locomotion, balance control, voice commands, and app-based control.

K-Scale Labs' vision is refreshingly ambitious, with the goal of attaining full autonomy for the K-Bot by June 2028, requiring less than 1 human intervention per day. This ambitious goal, if achieved, could revolutionize the way we interact with technology in our homes.

For those with a more modest budget, K-Scale Labs offers the Z-Bot, a smaller, more affordable option priced under $1,000. The Z-Bot is aimed at hobbyists and entry-level robotics developers, and is expected to compete with HuggingFace's open-source humanoid robot HopeJr, priced at around $3,000.

The K-Bot's development has been made possible through the support of Y Combinator, a well-known startup accelerator. Despite its limited resources, the team at K-Scale Labs has managed to develop the K-Bot in approximately five months, working tirelessly 24/7 from Benjamin Bolte's home.
