Cyber Security Month 2023: BACS Warns of Phishing Threat
October marks 'Cyber Security Month', a global initiative led by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). This year, the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (BACS) is focusing its awareness campaigns on phishing, a daily threat online.
Phishing attacks aim to trick victims into revealing sensitive information like credit card details. BACS warns that even a careless social media post or unsecured online account can have long-term consequences and be exploited for targeted phishing, known as spear-phishing.
To combat this, BACS is providing professionals with tips on self-protection throughout October. These include both technical measures and raising awareness. On October 9, from 12:00 to 13:00, BACS will host a Brownbag Lunch event, delving into the methods and tricks used by attackers.
With phishing attacks happening daily, 'Cyber Security Month' and BACS's awareness campaigns serve as crucial reminders to stay vigilant online. By learning and implementing self-protection tips, individuals and professionals can better safeguard their sensitive data.
