At the helm of the Rail Maintenance division is Hassan Al Mutawa, the Director of Rail Maintenance at the Rail Agency of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority. Al Mutawa plays a pivotal role in the Operations Control Centre (OCC) of Dubai Metro, overseeing critical safety responses, coordinating emergency teams, and integrating AI for predictive maintenance and train condition monitoring. His responsibilities extend to managing multiple response levels, from the control centre to on-site staff and first-line responders, as well as innovating shorter route services based on passenger patterns.

The OCC, located in Al Rashidiya, oversees Dubai Metro's operations. It is divided into specialised teams with distinct roles, working together to monitor train movement and facilities across the network to ensure adherence to schedule. The OCC is instrumental in preparing special plans for crowd management during major events, including deploying additional trains.

The Dubai Metro network experiences very few malfunctions compared to global standards, with six to seven incidents per year. Most malfunctions are resolved through remote system commands, but when necessary, a first-line response team steps in. The system's advanced AI-based operations contribute significantly to this high level of reliability.

Regular awareness campaigns remind commuters to follow rules and practice good transit etiquette, particularly during busy events. Officials emphasise the importance of passenger cooperation in ensuring smooth operations. During peak hours, up to 70 trains operate on the Red Line, and 30 on the Green Line. The number of trains is adjusted based on demand during off-peak hours.
