Databricks & OpenAI Team Up: Simplifying Enterprise AI with GPT-5 Integration
Databricks, a data and AI company, has sealed a $100 million multi-year deal with OpenAI. This collaboration aims to simplify enterprise AI deployment by enabling businesses to build custom AI bots and agents using Databricks' tools and OpenAI's models.
The partnership introduces OpenAI's models, including the advanced GPT-5, into Databricks' AI product, Agent Bricks. Users can now access these models via SQL or API, allowing them to create reasoning agents, productivity agents, coding agents, or more.
GPT-5, already available as the primary model in Agent Bricks, offers extended reasoning capabilities. It can scan long documents and perform multi-step calculations. However, like other AI models, it may still produce hallucinations, as noted in a recent OpenAI study.
This deal is expected to encourage enterprises to turn to Databricks for integrating AI agents into their workflows. Despite some AI hype deflation by 2025, businesses are still likely to adopt AI in their processes.
Databricks' collaboration with OpenAI brings powerful AI models like GPT-5 to enterprises, facilitating the creation of custom AI agents. This deal is likely to influence businesses' AI integration strategies, even as AI hype evolves in the coming years.
