DeepSeek Douses Rumors: No Release Date for DeepSeek-R2 Yet
Chinese AI giant DeepSeek has quashed recent rumours about the release of its next AI model, DeepSeek-R2. The company has not confirmed any launch date, leaving enthusiasts in the dark.
DeepSeek has denied market speculation suggesting a launch between August 15 and 30. This isn't the first time the company has refuted release date rumours. In early 2025, DeepSeek dismissed talk of a March 17 launch.
The company has remained tight-lipped about DeepSeek-R2's technical details and capabilities. However, in June, The Information reported that DeepSeek's CEO Liang Wenfeng was driving further development to boost performance. In May, sources indicated that DeepSeek was expediting the rollout to enhance code generation and reasoning in multiple languages.
Despite the excitement surrounding DeepSeek-R2, the company has not revealed a launch date or shared technical details. Interested parties will have to wait for an official announcement from DeepSeek.
