Digital Assets Set to Dominate at MyFintech Week 2025, Malaysia Pursuing Tokenized Economy Ambition
Malaysia is set to take centre stage in the digital asset world with the upcoming MyFintech Week 2025. From August 4-7, the country will host a four-day conference that aims to attract hundreds of industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators from across the region.
The event, co-organized by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), will focus on digital assets and explore Malaysia's evolution towards a tokenized economy. The collaborative approach mirrors successful models in other Asian financial centers like Singapore and Hong Kong.
Key sessions during the conference will include discussions on tokenization, institutional adoption, and regulatory framework development. The event will also address three key focus areas beyond digital assets: Finance for the Future, Finance for Change, and Finance for a Resilient Ecosystem.
MyFintech Week 2025 will feature a Tokenization Masterclass, roundtable discussions, workshops, and panel discussions related to digital assets. The conference's emphasis is on fostering responsible innovation while maintaining robust oversight.
Notable participants in the event include Eddie Yue, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, Mohammad Faiz Azmi, Executive Chairman of Securities Commission Malaysia, Chia Der Jiun, Managing Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Peng Yang, Chief Executive Officer of Ant International.
Other key industry bodies are also involved in the organization, and the conference will position Malaysia to lead regional discussions on digital asset policy harmonization and cross-border regulatory cooperation, coinciding with Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship.
Yanis Varoufakis, Former Minister of Finance of Greece, will also be participating in MyFintech Week 2025. Registration and detailed program information for the event can be found at myfw2025.com.my.
