Digital Sovereignty Alliance Launches to Promote Ethical Crypto Policies in U.S. Congress
The Digital Sovereignty Alliance (DSA) has launched, aiming to promote ethical crypto policies in the U.S. Congress. The alliance seeks to foster a society where digital technologies empower people, protect digital rights, and drive inclusive growth.
The DSA's primary mission is to promote responsible regulations in decentralized technologies, blockchain, cryptocurrencies, Web3, and AI. It aspires to achieve this by carrying out in-depth research on the crypto ecosystem to inform policy formulation and community strategies.
The alliance will facilitate communication between different actors in the crypto ecosystem. It aims to serve as an educational resource for legislators, bridging the gap between them, technology experts, and the crypto community. The DSA supports a balanced approach to regulation that prioritizes public well-being and technological development.
Among its specific recommendations, the DSA advocates for an exemption for digital asset companies that incidentally engage in money transmission. It also suggests that decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) should not be required to identify California residents they transact with, given their anonymous nature.
The DSA's establishment signals a concerted effort to shape a regulatory framework that protects crypto consumers and fosters new technology development. By promoting ethical and responsible regulations, the alliance aims to enhance digital sovereignty and ensure that these technologies benefit society as a whole.
