DIRECTV Revolutionizes Streaming with Seven New Multiview Mix Channels
DIRECTV is set to revolutionize streaming with the launch of seven new multiview Mix Channels on August 19, 2025. This move allows Signature Package and Genre Pack customers to watch up to four live programs simultaneously on a single screen.
DIRECTV has a history of innovation in multi-channel viewing. It first introduced this feature in 2008 for satellite subscribers and later brought it to streaming in November 2024. The new Mix Channels are an expansion of this technology, offering simultaneous multi-game or multi-event streaming options.
The new channels cater to a wide range of viewers. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy Sports Mix and League Sports Mix, while News Mix and Business Mix keep those interested in current affairs and business updates engaged. Kids Mix provides entertainment for younger viewers, and Locals Mix offers local programming. A Sunday Sports Mix feature is also in the pipeline.
Vikash Sharma, head of product at DIRECTV, sees this as the next generation of multiview for streaming. The technology is compatible with DIRECTV Gemini devices, Roku, Fire TV, and Android TV platforms, with Apple TV and Samsung Tizen compatibility coming soon. Enhanced accessibility features include automatic closed captioning updates and integrated parental controls across all mix configurations.
DIRECTV's launch of seven new multiview Mix Channels is a strategic move to capitalize on the growing streaming viewership and advertising revenue. This expansion of multiview technology into regular streaming operations promises an enhanced viewing experience for customers.
