Disney Announces Additional Release Dates for Its 2025 Film Lineup

Hey there, bud! 2024's almost over, and we're gearing up for some fresh cinematic goodies in 2025! Disney's got a stacked lineup, with Marvel, Pixar, and more putting forth some exciting content.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Disney's put some firm release dates on two upcoming films - Freaky Friday and the live-action Lilo & Stitch. Freaky Friday, with its original stars, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, will hit theaters on August 8, 2025. The residual cast from the 2003 original — like Steven Tobolowsky, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, and Christina Vidal Mitchell — will be joined by newcomers Manny Jacinto and Julia Soong. On the same day, Warner Bros. will drop a Leonardo DiCaprio-led flick directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Lilo & Stitch, meanwhile, is scheduled for May 23, 2025. Dean Fleischer Camp directs this remake of Disney's 2002 animated classic. Maia Kealoha takes on the role of Lilo, adopting a blue-furred alien experiment, Stitch (voiced by Chris Sanders, the original actor). The mad scientist who engineered Stitch and the pursuit of the space police create a thrilling sci-fi narrative. Along with Kealoha and Sanders, the cast includes Sydney Agudong, Kaipo Dudoit, Zach Galifanakis, Courtney B. Vance, and Billy Magnussen.

Disney's movies tend to do well during the late spring-summer period, but Lilo & Stitch will have to contend with Mission Impossible 8. Despite production setbacks and potential changes to the title (formerly Dead Reckoning Part 2), the franchise's spy-action flick is still a powerhouse, attracting fans who love to see Tom Cruise perform death-defying stunts.
