Domaine Clarence Dillon Expands Portfolio with Château Grand-Pontet Acquisition
Domaine Clarence Dillon, the esteemed wine estate owner, has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of Château Grand-Pontet in Saint-Émilion. This move makes Château Quintus, another estate under Domaine Clarence Dillon, one of the largest properties in the region. Mariette Veyssière, a fifth-generation local and the president of Domaine Clarence Dillon, will oversee the new estate.
Château Grand-Pontet, nestled near Saint-Émilion village, is surrounded by three premier grand cru classé estates: Château Canon, Clos Fourtet, and Château Beau-Séjour Bécot. The acquisition offers Quintus' winemaking team greater possibilities for creating wines from a stringent selection, using the 'illustrious historical terroir'.
The topography of Château Grand-Pontet features a plateau and slopes facing north, west, and south, with limestone soils ideal for Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. With 45 hectares in total, 42 of which are planted with vines, Quintus has become one of Saint-Émilion's largest properties. Prince Robert de Luxembourg, chairman & CEO of Domaine Clarence Dillon, expressed pride in Quintus' achievements after more than 10 vintages.
Domaine Clarence Dillon, with its acquisition of Château Grand-Pontet, continues to strengthen its presence in Saint-Émilion. Under the leadership of Mariette Veyssière, the new estate is set to contribute to the high-quality wines that Domaine Clarence Dillon is renowned for, further enhancing its reputation in the global wine industry.
