DS9-Inspired Coffee Mug Overshadows Picard's Teacup as Top Desired Item
The Star Trek drinkware craze is ramping up faster than a phaser on full blast! Just when we thought we couldn't get any closer to sipping our favorite beverages from authentic Star Trek props, another contender enters the scene. Recently, the much-awaited replica of Captain Picard's iconic tea glass from The Next Generation made a comeback. Now, for all the caffeine lovers out there, here's something you won't wanna miss - a fantastic take on the unique mugs serving the beloved Deep Space Nine's favorite beverage, Klingon raktajino.
As reported by TrekCore, CherryTree - known for their range of licensed PC cases, particularly those massive Borg Cubes – has launched a line of mugs inspired by the iconic mugs used by the characters on Deep Space Nine. Two distinct raktajino mugs graced the screens of the show: the blue-tinted mugs from the Replimat restaurant on DS9's promenade, and the indented-rimmed design served at Quark's (collab with Highwave, who still sells the original version). Although the blue mugs from the show are tough to find for fans, CherryTree claims to have come up with an unofficial yet faithful homage.
Interestingly, the patent for the design expired in the '90s, and the blue shade seen on the show was created by the Deep Space Nine art department. Despite not being an officially licensed replica, the "If You Know, You Know" mug offers Deep Space Nine fans the closest approximation. And not just that, it even includes the catchy jingle used to lure customers to Quark's bar on the bottom!
If you're ready to transport yourself to one of the most iconic watering holes in all of Star Trek, this "IYKYK" mug is now available for $30.
