Dubai & Germany Strengthen Economic Ties with New Strategic Pact
Dubai's Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) has inked a strategic pact with the German-Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce (AHK), aiming to bolster German corporate presence in the UAE and beyond. The deal aligns with Dubai's D33 vision to double its economy and attract global investment.
The agreement, signed at Dubai CommerCity, was witnessed by key officials including H.E. Sybille Pfaff, H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Amna Lootah, and Dr. Martin Henkelmann. It focuses on streamlining German company entry through fast-track processes, a dedicated 'German Desk,' and custom incentives.
Priority sectors for collaboration include Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, sustainability, and digital commerce. Two new hubs will be established: an innovation centre at Dubai Silicon Oasis and a 'DAFZ-Germany Fast Lane' at Dubai Airport Freezone to support logistics and trade.
Dubai's appeal as a regional platform for German businesses was underscored by H.E. Sybille Pfaff. DIEZ's zones already host over 200 German companies, including heavyweights like Airbus, Porsche, DHL, and Henkel.
With non-oil trade between the UAE and Germany reaching AED 50.68 billion (USD 13.8 billion) in 2024, this partnership promises to further strengthen economic ties. By facilitating German company entry and fostering collaboration in key sectors, Dubai and Germany stand to benefit significantly from this strategic alliance.
