Electrifying testimonials pour in for IONNA's Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles
In the world of electric vehicles (EVs), charging infrastructure has become a vital concern for drivers. Enter IONNA, a joint venture supported by eight major automakers, who are rolling out public charging stations known as Rechargeries.
One such Rechargery, visited by Chad Kirchner, Editor-in-Chief of Destination Charged, is located near Reynoldsburg, Ohio. This standalone charging station boasts a lounge area, complete with a conference-type table and chairs, comfy chairs and sofas, vending machines, a clean bathroom, and free WiFi. The lounge can be accessed only while charging, using a smartphone app, and is open from 7 am to 7 pm.
The Rechargery features up to 6 chargers with a total of 12 individual charging points. These chargers are equipped with both CCS and NACS connectors, catering to a wide range of EV models. All the charging stalls are pull-through, accommodating front, back, and trailer-pullers. The charger capacities at this location can reach up to 400 kW, ensuring quick charging times.
During Chad's visit, the charger worked without issue. The graphic display provided detailed charging information, and the location is well-lit with canopy coverage, protecting users from weather. The lounge area also offers car care amenities, and the entire environment is secure, with surveillance cameras.
Payment at the Rechargery is simplified. Chad paid an "introductory price" of $0.42 per kWh, which is relatively affordable compared to typical pricing in the area. Payment can be made at the pump with a credit card or using popular charging apps like ChargePoint and FordPass, eliminating the need for multiple apps.
Other Rechargeries are located at convenience store/gas stations such as Sheetz or Wawa. For instance, the initial Rechargery was opened at Wawa near the International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, and others are under construction at Wawa locations in Bradenton, Pensacola, and Orlando, Florida. These sites integrate with Wawa’s in-store offerings, giving access to fresh food and beverages while charging.
IONNA's Rechargeries promise to be reliable, well-designed, and equipped with driver-friendly amenities. With their ultra-fast chargers and convenient locations, they are set to revolutionise the EV charging landscape.
Technology plays a crucial role in the seamless operation of IONNA's Rechargeries, as the charging stations incorporate advanced features such as smartphone apps, detailed graphic displays, and efficient chargers capable of up to 400 kW.
IONNA's pricing strategy for these Rechargeries is competitive, with an introductory price of $0.42 per kWh, making it relatively affordable compared to standard pricing in the area, further promoting the adoption of electric vehicles.
