Emerges for the first time in U.S. markets: Analytica USA
In the heart of Ohio, Columbus played host to the inaugural analytica USA from September 10 to 12, 2023. This groundbreaking event, a combination of a trade fair, scientific conference, and live demonstrations, marked a novelty for the US market and was met with great enthusiasm by visitors.
Messe München, the organization behind analytica shows worldwide, was responsible for the next analytica USA, scheduled to take place in the fall of 2027. The choice of Columbus as the location for the first analytica USA was strategic, given its central location, established research institutions, strong life science community, and investment-intensive industries.
The event provided a platform for innovations, networking, and knowledge transfer in the entire spectrum of laboratory technology, analytics, and biotechnology. A total of 2,222 participants from 38 countries attended the event, with an international share of 35 percent.
The scientific conference featured 18 international speakers, offering in-depth expertise on various topics. John McLean's lecture on Phenomics and Ralf Zimmermann's lecture on the impact of fine dust on lung cells were among the highlights.
The trade fair also showcased the Digital Transformation special exhibition, demonstrating digital processes in the laboratory and the latest developments in networked working. The Live Lab allowed visitors to follow common laboratory processes at a complete laboratory line, while the Lab Safety Show emphasised safety measures to avoid dangerous situations in the laboratory.
The Exhibitor Forum featured best practice presentations from representatives of leading companies, and there were 270 exhibitors from 19 countries participating. The accompanying program of analytica USA focused on digitalization and sustainability in the laboratory environment.
Clark Mulligan, President of the US Laboratory Products Association (LPA), expressed satisfaction with the first analytica USA, while Susanne Grodl, Exhibition Director of analytica shows worldwide, was thrilled with its reception. Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, CEO of Messe München, stated that the event laid the foundation for their presence in the US market. Bill Dunlevy, Vice President of Ohio Life Sciences, was equally excited about the opportunity to bring analytica to the USA and was pleased with its progress.
The USA is one of the world's largest laboratory and analysis markets, with around 190,000 laboratories and an international market share of approximately 25 percent. The success of the first analytica USA in Columbus, Ohio, promises a bright future for future editions of the event.
