In a significant stride towards enhancing digital connectivity, Deutsche Telekom has announced plans to expand its mobile network coverage in Landkreis Deggendorf over the next three years. The expansion aims to improve both 4G and 5G availability, with a focus on providing fast, stable, and future-proof mobile network capabilities.

Key aspects of the expansion plan include:

  1. 5G Rollout: Deutsche Telekom will broaden the reach of 5G technology across Landkreis Deggendorf, targeting both urban centers and rural areas to ensure comprehensive coverage. This involves deploying new 5G base stations and upgrading hardware at current sites.
  2. 4G Network Enhancement: The company will also boost the 4G network to enhance baseline coverage and capacity, particularly in underserved locations, thereby improving voice and data service quality.
  3. Infrastructure Investment: Significant investments will be made to modernize network equipment, utilize more efficient technologies, and optimize spectrum usage.
  4. Rural Focus: Special attention will be given to remote and less densely populated areas within the district to reduce connectivity gaps.

The expansion efforts are in response to the increasing demand for bandwidth. According to Markus Jodl, spokesperson for Deutsche Telekom, the demand for bandwidth is growing by around 30% per year.

Deutsche Funkturm, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, builds the mobile network sites for Telekom. A new mobile network site has already been taken into operation in Deggendorf, and 30 existing sites will be expanded with LTE or 5G.

The company's mobile network sites in the district support the emergency call technology Advanced Mobile Location (AML) and the warning system Cell Broadcast. In case of emergency calls to 112, the location of the caller is automatically transmitted to the emergency control center thanks to AML. Cell Broadcast sends danger messages to mobile phones in the affected radio cell, for example in case of major fires, gas explosions, or floods.

The number of mobile network sites in Landkreis Deggendorf has increased to 74, and the supply of households with fast mobile networks has been increased to 98%. The existing mobile network antennas in Auerbach have been modernized.

Landlords who lease areas for mobile network sites receive a long-term, location-appropriate rent. Telekom plans to add 7 more mobile network sites in Landkreis Deggendorf over the next three years. Interested parties can offer a site for a roof or mast location by contacting Deutsche Funkturm at www.dfmg.de/standortangebot.

For detailed timelines and specific site deployments, updates will be periodically released via Deutsche Telekom’s local offices or media announcements.
