The Ethereum Foundation has made a significant move by establishing a new team known as the dAI Team. This team, led by Ethereum researcher Davide Crapis, aims to position Ethereum as the main settlement and coordination layer for AI agents and the machine economy.

The primary objectives of the dAI Team are to facilitate autonomous payment execution and coordinate actions among AI agents. To achieve this, the team will work on advancing the ERC-8004 standard for verifying AI agent identity and trustworthiness.

In addition, the dAI Team will develop decentralized AI infrastructure to reduce reliance on centralized services. This move is expected to bring about a more decentralized and secure environment for AI agents and the machine economy.

Davide Crapis, the leader of the dAI Team, believes that Ethereum can serve as a neutral base layer for value and reputation for intelligent agents. This, he says, will benefit both Ethereum and AI by escaping lock-in to centralized platforms.

The announcement of the dAI Team was made in a post on an unspecified platform and was also featured in the Unchained Daily newsletter. While the membership date of the dAI team at the Ethereum Foundation is not yet clear, the developments mark a significant step towards integrating AI agents and the machine economy into the Ethereum network.

As the world continues to embrace AI and machine learning, the dAI Team's efforts could pave the way for a more decentralized and secure future for these technologies. The team's focus on autonomous payment execution and coordination of actions could revolutionize the way AI agents interact and transact, benefiting both developers and users alike.
