Terrifier 3: A Bloody Santa Nightmare Unleashed
"Explaining the Sense of Incompleteness in Terrifier 3, Potentially Due to a Missing Key Scene"
In the cinema halls, 'Terrifier 3' is causing pandemonium! Art the Clown, with his chilling Santa suit, has been carving up Christmases like never before. Let's dive deeper into the mind of director Damien Leone in this exclusive io9 interview, getting insights on the franchise's future plans and the mysteries surrounding one of Terrifier 3's characters.
Cheryl Eddy, io9: So, they haven't officially announced Terrifier 4 yet, but it's surely on your mind, right?
Damien Leone: (Laughs) Yeah, that was a tease at the first screening in Austin at Fantastic Fest, a post-screening Q&A. If you see Terrifier 3, it has a blatant, in-your-face cliffhanger ending. So, I wouldn't say it's a no-brainer, but I didn't want that information out there. There's still much to learn about Art the Clown, Sienna, and other characters. We can't leave the audience hanging.
io9: It seems like someone has to go to hell or come back from hell.
Leone: There is a challenge. We have to find Gabbie somehow.
io9: Terrifier 3 is over two hours long, but it's not as long as the infamous Terrifier 2. I read a recent interview where you mentioned that five scenes of character development were cut. Can you speak specifically about what was in those and maybe if we'll ever get to see those scenes?
Leone: Many of these cut scenes were between Sienna and Gabbie that really fleshed out that relationship. There was another wonderful scene between Sienna and Aunt Jess. There were also scenes about Victoria reattaching Art the Clown's head and a scene between Victoria and Gabbie during the finale, a very psychologically sadistic scene that I wished we kept in.
io9: There are a couple of main characters, especially Jonathan, whose deaths occur off-screen. What was the thinking behind that?
Leone: I didn't want to see that character suffer. I thought it would be disrespectful to that character. The reveal is so important, and it was more effective to just reveal it that way. Also, showing the death would have had no impact after the shower massacre scene.
Terrifier 3 is still making waves in theaters. Stay tuned for the latest Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, DC, and Doctor Who updates!
