Five indie game studios based in Hamburg exhibiting at Gamescom 2023
Gamecity Hamburg, the location initiative celebrating its 20th anniversary, is funding six digital game prototypes in 2023. As part of the 'Road to Gamescom' program, five of these studios will showcase their games at the renowned Gamescom event in Cologne.
One of the games to watch is Crumbling, a VR game by Crumbling Games. In this title, players control an action figure and engage in battles against plastic toy monsters. Another exciting game is Turbo Shell, developed by the fifth studio. In this sci-fi adventure, players control an egg-like character, navigating through levels using a unique push-pull technique.
Symmetry Break Studio, winners of the German Computer Game Award for the best prototype of 2023 for 'Light of Atlantis', will also be present. Light of Atlantis is a game where players control the element of water. The studio has also developed Misgiven, a narrative sci-fi adventure that received Hamburg prototyping funding.
Other studios participating include kaleidoscube GmbH, founded by Dominik Schön, and the team behind Studio Seufz, known for their game Lucky Tower Ultimate, a humor-filled roguelike-adventure published by AMC Games and supported by MFG Baden-Württemberg. The founders of the remaining four studios and their games at Gamescom 2023 are not explicitly detailed.
A newcomer to the scene is a young team debuting with the game 'About Cannons + Sparrows', featuring a small cannon and puzzles.
