Ford Australia Celebrates 100 Years of Automotive History

Ford Australia, established in 1925, has marked a century of automotive history in the country. The company, initially assembling Model Ts, has since produced iconic models like the Ford Falcon and the latest Ranger Super Duty.

Ford's journey began on March 31, 1925, with H.R. Goode at the helm, setting up headquarters and a manufacturing plant in Geelong, Victoria. The company initially assembled Model Ts from Canadian knock-down kits.

The first fully Australian-designed vehicle, the Ford Falcon, rolled off the production line in 1960. This was followed by a range of models, including the Prefect, Anglia, Zephyr, and Escort. The Falcon evolved, with the XA model in 1972 being the first fully Australian-designed, engineered, and produced.

Ford Australia has also been a significant part of the local community. It recently celebrated a 100-year sponsorship of the Geelong Cats football club and partnered with the Australian Red Cross for a AU$1.5 million, three-year sponsorship.

Ford Australia's latest innovation, the Ranger Super Duty ute, was launched in Melbourne, accompanied by a 'Pro Converter' programme. The event showcased an array of historic Ford vehicles, including Model Ts, racing cars, and the Mustang Mach E. As Ford Australia looks to the future, it continues to build on its rich history and commitment to the local community.
