Google & Amazon Unveil New Smart Home Security Devices
Tech giants Google and Amazon have unveiled their latest smart home security devices. Google's new Nest line and Amazon's Ring devices bring enhanced features to the market, with initial availability in several countries.
Google's Nest Doorbell (3rd Gen) and new Nest cameras are now available in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, and Australia, with other regions joining in early 2026. The 3rd Gen doorbell offers a 166-degree field of view and 6x digital zoom. The Nest Cam Indoor (2nd Gen) records at 2K with a 152-degree field of view, while the Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd Gen) adds 24/7 night view and HDR night vision. All new Nest devices use Gemini for Home for detailed alerts and offer up to 6 hours of free video storage without a subscription. Google Home Premium subscribers can enjoy up to 60 days of video storage.
Amazon's new Ring devices introduce 4K resolution and AI-powered features. They offer AI subject-recognition for detailed notifications, providing users with more relevant alerts. Both companies' new devices are powered by their respective smart home platforms, offering users advanced security and convenience.
