Google Launches Ninth AI-Focused Startup Accelerator in Africa
Google has launched the ninth edition of its Google for Startups Accelerator Program, focused on AI-focused startups in Africa. Applications are open from April 10 to May 9, 2025, offering successful startups access to up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits, expert support, and invitations to major industry events.
The program, tailored for AI-focused startups from Seed to Series A stage, will include 10 to 15 startups addressing real-world challenges. Successful applicants will gain access to a three-month hybrid program combining virtual and in-person sessions, along with focused sprint projects. Additionally, they'll receive 30 days of free Cloud TPU access for open-source machine learning research.
Founders will be matched with Google industry experts to refine their solutions and develop scalable business ideas. The program is completely free, with Google not taking any equity. Notable alumni include Nigerian AI-specialized startups Infinity Health Africa and E-GovConnect, which enrolled in the 2024 inaugural program. Infinity Health Africa focuses on regulatory technology for healthcare products, while E-GovConnect leverages data for healthcare.
Applications for the ninth cohort can be submitted here. Successful startups will gain access to valuable resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to scale their AI-focused solutions and improve public services across Africa.
