HDBaseT Alliance Unveils HDBaseT-USB3 for Long-Distance USB Connectivity
The HDBaseT Alliance has unveiled the HDBaseT-USB3 standard, enabling USB 2.0, USB 3.2, controls, power, and frame synchronization to travel up to 328 feet (100m) over a single Category cable. This innovation aims to meet the increasing demand for USB connectivity and multi-camera use in installations.
The HDBaseT-USB3 standard was first demonstrated at ISE in February 2024. It allows for a reliable and cost-effective cabling infrastructure to support the growing trend of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and multi-camera setups. While the exact release timeframe for products supporting this standard from the 15 allied manufacturers is not specified, Atlona has already introduced an HDBaseT wallplate transmitter for USB-C and HDMI inputs, indicating that compatible products are currently available.
The HDBaseT Alliance has prioritized USB connectivity and extension improvements for 2024, aiming to provide better solutions for installers and end users.
The HDBaseT-USB3 standard extends USB connectivity and power over a single cable, addressing the increasing demand for USB support and multi-camera use. Products supporting this standard are currently available, with more expected throughout 2024. The alliance's focus on USB connectivity improvements ensures that installers and end users can benefit from reliable, cost-effective cabling solutions.
