Hitachi to Revolutionize Welsh Public Transport with Multimodal Digital Booking System
Hitachi has been selected by Transport for Wales (TfW) to revolutionize public transportation in Wales. Over the next five years, Hitachi will deliver a multimodal digital booking system, allowing customers to plan and book journeys across various transportation modes using a user-friendly app.
Hitachi's global expertise, refined from managing 50 million multimodal ticketing transactions daily and working on initiatives like the Japanese rail network and Italian projects, will be employed to create a bespoke Mobility as a Service product for Wales. The new system will include rail, local bus, fflecsi, TrawsCymru services, and micromobility options such as bikes and e-scooters.
TfW's objective is to enhance customer experience and encourage more people to use public transportation with this digital solution. Meanwhile, the search continues for the coordinator of the third CiTTi Awards, scheduled for November 26, 2024, at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London.
Hitachi's multimodal digital booking system, due to be delivered over the next five years, promises to transform public transportation in Wales. By integrating various transportation modes and improving user experience, TfW aims to attract more passengers and digitally transform the public transportation landscape.
