Elden Ring's Nightreign multiplayer offers a relatively straightforward approach compared to setting up multiplayer in the base game. While it does not support crossplay between different platforms, players on the same platform, such as PS5, Xbox Series X, or Steam, can play together either by inviting friends directly or via a multiplayer password system.

For individuals who are already friends on their respective platforms (Xbox network, PSN, or Steam), the most straightforward method involves opening the Matchmaking Settings menu and clicking the Invite Members button. This action displays the platform's friend list from which players can be selected and invited. Once accepted, the players' names will appear on the top-right corner of the screen. All players must then select the same Expedition to commence playing together.

Another option, for those who want to join forces with strangers, is the multiplayer password system. By setting a password within the Matchmaking Settings tab, players can match with others using the same password. It's crucial to set the No. of password players setting accordingly. If aiming for a three-player team, set this to "three players." If only one additional player is desired, choose "two players."

Unfortunately, it's worth noting that Elden Ring Nightreign does not support cross-platform play, making it impossible for players on different platforms to cooperate. Cross-generation support, however, is available (e.g., PS5 players can play with PS4 players, Xbox Series X/S players with Xbox One players, and Steam players with other Steam users). However, there is no current indication that crossplay between platforms will be added in the future.
