Interview with CEO Michelle Nemirovsky Reveals Insights on Crafting the Ideal Wedding Planning Platform
In the ever-evolving world of weddings, a new app is making waves among Gen Z couples who value sustainability, connection, and effortless technology. This innovative platform is called Guestlist, founded by Michelle Nemirovsky and her engineer-husband.
Michelle, with a background in marketing and a stint as a creative director at a healthcare-tech company, as well as experience at Loyola Marymount, an Israeli fashion house called Maskit, GoPro, and several early-stage startups, saw an opportunity to revolutionise the wedding planning experience. Her journey began when she launched a social app for mothers and daughters, which led her to teach herself UX and product design.
Guestlist is designed to streamline guest communication and coordination for a more seamless event experience, serving as a private social network for weddings. The app, which has been featured in Brides magazine as the "Best Wedding App," has been used in nearly 100 countries and boasts over 7,300 users, with 1,700 monthly active users, up 15%.
The app offers five core features out of the box: real-time updates, question and answer functionality, RSVP management, photo sharing, and guest connection tools. Guests can get real-time updates, ask questions, RSVP, upload photos, and connect with each other. The Shared Feed serves as a private, social-style feed for announcements, questions, tips, and hype. The Details Page consolidates timeline, locations, dress code, and FAQs, while the Guestlist offers Private Messaging, allowing guests to connect without needing each other's contact info.
One of Michelle's favourite memories working for the company was seeing Guestlist take off beyond their own wedding and spread organically. Customer success stories include living communities, quick lost item recovery, and instant schedule updates. Future goals include rolling out a customizable RSVP tool and incorporating AI to handle repetitive coordination.
The app differentiates itself by being mobile-first, guest-centric, and offering a shared feed, live updates, and in-app community. The idea for Guestlist came from the pain points experienced as guests at a destination wedding and while planning their own wedding. Premium features include Text Blasts, Additional Admins, and Unlimited Photo & Video Uploads.
As Gen Z couples continue to prioritise sustainability and personal connections in their weddings, Guestlist is poised to play a significant role in making the planning process more enjoyable and efficient.
In the realm of Gen Z wedding planning, Guestlist, a pioneering app founded by Michelle Nemirovsky, merges sustainability with effortless technology, emphasizing on personal connections and seamless technology.
