Apple Introduces Vibrant New Colour Palette for the Upcoming iPhone 17

Apple is set to shake up the smartphone market with a fresh and dynamic colour palette for its upcoming iPhone 17. The anticipated new colour for the iPhone 17 is Steel Gray, a refreshed twist on the classic Space Gray with a blend between lighter and darker shades.

Joining Steel Gray in the base iPhone 17's colour lineup are a distinct light green (caterpillar green), a more saturated and lighter purple than previous purples used by Apple, and a light blue. These new hues mark a shift toward more vibrant, youthful, and trendy tones compared to previous iPhone colours, which tended to be more muted or traditional.

In addition, the iPhone 17 Pro lineup introduces an all-new Orange colour and a Dark Blue similar to the previous Blue Titanium. The new colour for the iPhone 17 is designed to complement the Liquid Glass design language of iOS 26.

The iPhone 17's design is expected to undergo Apple's most significant design change for smartphones in a while, marking a departure from years of identical-looking devices. The new colour may appear as white initially, but it will exhibit different effects under different light conditions. In some cases, it may display multiple colours depending on how the light hits it.

This colour update provides a more diverse and dynamic palette compared with previous generations that favoured more conservative hues. The success of the new design in making the iPhone exciting again is yet to be determined.

It's worth noting that Apple has faced a series of recent missteps, giving the appearance of increasing beleagueredness. However, the iPhone 17's design is intended to reflect Apple's 'Think Different' mantra, aiming to rekindle the spirit of innovation that has defined the company for decades.

The new colour for the iPhone 17 is being revealed by a well-regarded Apple leaker via Weibo. The iPhone 17 will also include a new model, the iPhone 17 Air, and a radically different camera array for the iPhone 17 Pro.

Despite the exciting new colour options, Apple has not yet released a hot pink iPhone model. Only time will tell if the iPhone 17's new design will be enough to reignite consumer interest in the iconic smartphone.
