Introducing the New S-57W1/W2 Series of 2D Automotive Hall Effect Latch ICs by ABLIC

ABLIC Inc., a group company of MinebeaMitsumi Inc., has announced the launch of sales for the S-57W1/W2 series of automotive 2D dual hall effect latch IC. This innovative IC is designed to provide high-resolution rotational detection with the industry's highest magnetic sensitivity of 0.8 mT (typ.), making it an ideal choice for various automotive applications.

The S-57W1/W2 series IC is equipped with built-in Hall elements that detect magnetic flux density in two different directions, significantly improving design ease by automatically generating signals with a 90-degree phase difference. This feature is particularly beneficial for incremental encoder applications, where information such as rotation speed and direction is derived from the signal.

One of the key advantages of the S-57W1/W2 series is its compact package size, making it suitable for space-constrained applications. It is available in the standard SOT-23-5 package and the HSNT-6 package, which is the industry's thinnest 2D dual hall effect latch IC package. The series also includes a high-sensitivity version for detecting weak magnetic flux densities, suitable for high-pole ring magnets.

The S-57W1/W2 series IC is designed to convert mechanical rotational motion into electrical signals, making it perfect for motor rotation detection in vehicle opening/closing systems, dial-type controllers, and other similar applications. It outputs pulse signals representing changes in relative position from the start of motor operation, enabling high-speed rotational tracking for reliable detection of rapid changes in the magnetic field.

With a short output delay time of 8.4 μs typ., the S-57W1/W2 series IC ensures high-precision detection of the rotational speed and direction of motors, all on a single chip. This feature is crucial for applications that require accurate and timely information about the motor's rotation.

The S-57W1/W2 Series 2D Dual Hall Effect Latch IC, developed by ABLIC Inc., is set to revolutionize the automotive industry with its high-performance, compact design, and ease of integration. This IC is poised to play a significant role in the development of advanced automotive systems that demand precise motor control and rotation detection.
