Fresh Take on Jackson and *Scott Ian's Revamped King V Signature Guitar*
Looks like we're falling head over heels for this one! Jackson and Anthrax legend Scott Ian have teamed up once more to reimagine the King V signature guitar, this time in an eye-catching gloss Black finish, complete with eye-catching gold hardware and a nostalgic logo on the headstock.
The guitar's allure doesn't stop at its visually striking appearance; it's also packed with impressive features that make it a formidable player. At just £739/$799, this Indonesian-made X Series model offers a fantastic value for money.
According to Ian, "I just wanted something that exuded precision. I wanted it to look sharp and fabulous. The black and gold combination — I hadn't seen anything like it in a while."
The last time Ian and Jackson joined forces to create such a striking finish was just recently, back in March 2023, with the launch of Ian's Baldini Burst King V. Named after the late Dimebag Darrell's nickname for Ian, this metal-inspired guitar also sports gold hardware and floating bridge.
In terms of aesthetic, the new collaboration has some hints of Custom Shop elegance without crossing the line. It's the King V, dressed to impress in a tuxedo. "The colorway is spot-on, and of course, the vintage Jackson logo - that's the pièce de résistance!" gushes Ian. "I adore it. I adore how it turned out, and it plays even better than it looks."
Sporting a mahogany body, a neck-through-body maple neck reinforced with graphite and a scarf joint, the fretboard is a laurel bound variety that elevates its already premium feel. The fingerboard follows Jackson's 12" to 16" compound radius, present across most of its current guitars, except for the unique Misha Mansoor Juggernaut, which sports a 20" radius fingerboard.
Equipped with a pair of high-output Jackson humbuckers, this guitar packs a punch for the madcap world of Anthrax-style riffing. With the right modifications, like swapping out the stock pickups with high-quality alternatives from the likes of Seymour Duncan (try a JB at the bridge and a '59 at the neck), this guitar's potential is almost limitless.
