Kazakhstan Unveils Ambitious Energy Projects at KAZENERGY Forum
Kazakhstan's Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov, recently attended the Kazakhstan Energy Week - 2025/XVI Eurasian Forum KAZENERGY, highlighting the country's commitment to energy development and collaboration. The forum, attended by over 2,500 delegates from more than 50 countries, discussed Kazakhstan's expanding energy processing capabilities and ambitious projects.
Bektenov read out a welcoming message from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, stressing the importance of energy sources for Kazakhstan's energy development. The country is expanding its energy sector, with a new polypropylene plant commissioned, capable of producing 500,000 tons annually. Kazakhstan is also implementing renewable energy projects with international partners, totaling over 4 GW in capacity.
Looking ahead, six large-scale energy projects are planned by 2030, with a combined cost exceeding $15 billion. These projects aim to strengthen Kazakhstan's energy security and independence. The country is also increasing its refinery capacity, including the Shymkent Refinery, and developing gas processing facilities. Additionally, projects for the production of polyethylene, butadiene, and carbamide are underway in the petrochemistry sector.
Kazakhstan's energy sector is thriving, with significant investments in both traditional and renewable energy sources. The country's commitment to collaboration with international organizations and businesses is evident, as seen in the recent forum and ongoing projects. These efforts aim to enhance Kazakhstan's energy security and processing capabilities, positioning it as a key player in the global energy landscape.
