Kazakhstan Unveils SKAI, Its First AI Board Member
Kazakhstan has unveiled SKAI, the country's first AI-powered independent board member with voting rights. SKAI, developed by sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna, is set to enhance transparency and decision-making in corporate governance.
SKAI operates on the AlFarabium-2 supercomputer, ensuring data security and sovereignty within Kazakhstan's borders. It runs on the Alem LLM model, reflecting Samruk-Kazyna's commitment to developing domestic AI capabilities. The high computing power, based on NVIDIA's H200 processors, guarantees speed and reliability.
SKAI's integration into governance practices begins with its upcoming test at the Fund's Board of Directors meeting. It is designed to process and analyze internal and external regulations, Board decisions, and corporate records, thereby improving transparency and decision-making quality. SKAI was presented to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Digital Bridge Forum in Astana on Oct. 2, demonstrating the Fund's long-term digitalization and management transformation strategy.
SKAI's introduction marks a significant step in Kazakhstan's digital transformation. By integrating AI into its governance, Samruk-Kazyna aims to boost transparency and decision-making, setting a precedent in the region.
