Large sum allocated for Hamburg-based craft start-up, Plancraft: $38 million
Plancraft, a Hamburg-based startup, has raised €38 million in a Series B funding round, bringing its total funding to over €50 million. This significant investment will accelerate the development of Plancraft's AI-powered platform, designed to automate administrative tasks for skilled tradespeople across Europe.
Co-founded by Julian Wiedenhaus, Alexander Noll, and Richard Keil in 2020, Plancraft is on a mission to digitize the trades industry. The startup's all-in-one accounting and project management software consolidates all administrative tasks of a trade business onto a single platform.
The platform goes beyond basic digitization, delivering AI-based automation for routine administrative workflows. Current voice-enabled features allow users to execute tasks by speaking commands, such as creating work orders or sending invoices. Plancraft plans to evolve towards full AI agents handling customer interactions and other administrative responsibilities autonomously.
The funding will be used to further develop the software and expand the company's operations. With the new resources, Plancraft aims to double its workforce from about 40 to over 100 employees and expand into additional European markets including Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and Italy.
The development is timely given Europe's critical construction labor shortage, driven by ageing demographics, skills gaps, and climate retrofit demands. Plancraft positions its AI to deliver major productivity and sustainability gains within this sector where 95% of firms are small businesses.
The startup's strategic vision is to transform how skilled trades operate by relieving them of paperwork and digitization friction. The ultimate aim is an intuitive AI that requires no software skills beyond natural voice interaction, consistent with Plancraft’s patent-pending “Hot Design” voice technology which complies with enterprise security standards.
By automating administrative tasks, Plancraft aims to relieve trades businesses of tedious administrative tasks through voice control and future fully automated AI agents. This approach is designed to reduce the administrative burden on workers so they can focus on craftsmanship, addressing Europe’s skilled labor shortages and efficiency challenges in construction.
The Series B funding round was led by Headline, with participation from existing investors, including Swedish VC Creandum, HTGF, and xdeck. This investment signifies confidence in Plancraft's potential for further growth and success.
In summary, Plancraft is currently scaling its AI-driven administrative automation tools with strong investment and growth initiatives. The startup's goal is to provide a comprehensive solution for trade businesses through its software, ultimately moving toward AI agents that autonomously handle administrative burdens in the trades industry across Europe.
